GORAFE comes from the Arab term GAURAB, which means "high dwelling".
Arab were present during five centuries in Andalusia, GORAFE inherited from this presence a typical dwelling - CUEVA (cave dwelling) - and the famous culture of hospitality of the Almohades Arabs.
In GORAFE, the hospitality is in a natural way everyday. Currently the village counts 600 inhabitants. Its economy is based on family agriculture and ecological rearing as well as rural, cultural tourism. One can also meet there the greatest european concentration of DOLMENS.( visit the WALKS page)
GAURAB is an association of rural development which aims at promoting rural and cultural tourism of quality integrated into the village of GORAFE.
